B.A./B.Mus., Dip. Ed, Dip. J, Dip. T, MA
Native speaker, linguist, teacher & writer.
Australian born and bred, I have been living and working in Germany as an English teacher, writer, and translator for almost 20 years.
My career has always had the dual focus of teaching and creating – having completed my Bachelors Degree in English in 1995, I undertook my teacher training in secondary-level English and English as a Second Language (1999), and began working in schools in Australia. In parallel, I took my early steps in my writing career, with a professional qualification (1998) in Journalism and various work assignments.
Highly qualified and experienced in taking intermediate and advance students to the next level.
My arrival in Germany in 2002 allowed me focus on teaching English as a Foreign Language in mainly adult education contexts, and also to develop my understanding of language in general through my Magister in Linguistics at the University of Cologne (2011).
Intelligent teaching customized to individual needs.
My teaching experience ranges from teaching English to all ages in private language schools, to being an in-company trainer, a seminar leader, and a university lecturer in a variety of tertiary institutions. I have been active as a speaking examiner for the Cambridge ESOL exams since 2008, and have prepared many students to sit Cambridge and other exams, from level B1 upwards. In particular, I have focused on preparing students for examinations, improving written expression, and teaching advanced students (levels B2 to C2).
In the last decade, I have also returned to the profession of writing and editing, which is now a major component of my work, and have added translation to my professional activities. In these activities my special focus is on (digital) technology, as well as business, scientific and academic English.
