Lessons through ellis-english.de take place exclusively online. In the test lesson, we will look at your current level, talk about what you want to achieve with English, and make a plan for how to get there.
When & how long?
English lessons generally take place after work in the evenings, or on Saturdays, and generally one-to-one. I try to keep my teaching as flexible as possible to fit in with your busy schedule. That means that you can book your lessons flexibly month-by-month (Flexible Option), and only pay for those lessons that you book. Alternatively, you can purchase 5 lessons in advance at a 10% price reduction, and claim your lessons when you have time for them. You can also book regular ongoing lessons (Regular Option – minimum 3 months, ongoing, 20% price reduction) and you can change month-by-month between weekly and two-weekly intervals as you need to. If you know in advance that you will be travelling for work or involved in long project meetings in a given month, then you can opt to only attend (and pay for) two lessons in that month. Of course, for changes on shorter notice (at least 24 hours in advance of the booked lesson), we can also re-schedule your lesson to a time that suits both of us.
Whichever program you choose, though, it is important to be disciplined with attending regular lessons in order to make progress towards your English-learning objectives.
Your goals
The same goes for your homework. I will expect you to do regular work on your English outside of our lessons, but when your work or study commitments are putting you under pressure, we can ease the pressure of your English lessons to compensate. Certainly, I would advise you to be as disciplined as possible with learning English – you will get more out of it that way. And as we get closer to your important milestones, like exams or presentations, then the onus will be on you to put in the hours you need. Language skills are like any other skills – we can only build on them with practice.
Depending on your personal goals, I will probably recommend one or more study books for us to be working with. You will need to buy these yourself for your own use.
If you are part of a group of people (max. 4 people) who would like to take group English lessons, please contact me for a separate offer. Group lessons are priced on an individual basis, depending on your combined language levels and goals, and are therefore not listed in the Price List.
Where & how?
Lessons are held online, using one of a range of possible platforms. The easiest option is Skype, but we can also use other video-conferencing platforms, depending on your needs. Let me know which one you would prefer, and we can look at whether it will be practical for our lessons. Of course, we will also have communication via email, and can also include the mobile phone (e.g. over WhatsApp) as a medium for communicating if you would prefer. Let me know what works for you!
Contract & Payment
After your test lesson – which is free of charge – you can start taking lessons at any stage. The prices of lessons can be found in the Price List, and conditions of participation can be found in the Conditions of Participation (German-language). Payment can be made via bank transfer or via Paypal, and lessons are to be paid in advance. By booking ongoing weekly or fortnightly lessons in advance, you receive a 20% discount off the one-off lesson price.
Cancellations are to be made at least 24 hours in advance, and these lessons can then be rescheduled for a time that is suitable for both of us.
